About Sincere McMillan DNP, MS, RN, ANP-BC
Since beginning my career as a nurse’s assistant, I have developed a strong commitment to delivering exceptional care to older adults. I earned my Master’s degree in Adult Health from New York University in 2009 and have since gained experience in acute, subacute, long-term, and community-based care as a nurse practitioner (NP). In 2014, I became part of a renowned academic teaching center, where I honed my skills in geriatric oncology.
I was honored to receive the John A. Hartford Change AGEnt Action Award for my initiative in creating a clinical immersion program for NP students, which remains active today. My methodology in clinical education emphasizes the development of strong communication skills, the promotion of self-directed learning, and the practical application of evidence-based guidelines in real-world scenarios. Through this program, I have had the privilege of precepting and mentoring many NP students.
Additionally, I co-direct an annual symposium focused on geriatric oncology and serve as the fellowship coordinator for the Geriatric Oncology Subspecialty Track within an accredited Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Program, which was the first in the nation to achieve this distinction. In terms of accolades, I have received the Oncology Nursing Society Excellence Award for Care of the Older Adult and have been awarded special grants from the Fan Fox & Leslie R. Samuels Foundation on two occasions. Most recently, I was nominated by my peers for a clinical excellence award, which I was fortunate to receive.
Earning my Doctorate from Walden University paved the way for my entry into academia. I have had the privilege of teaching at prestigious nursing colleges and schools. I have also been invited to deliver several lectures and hold courtesy faculty appointments. My passion lies in educating clinicians about geriatrics and geriatric oncology.

“Sincere has an excellent fund of knowledge, a true understanding of the care of the older adult and vast experience dealing with their specific medical challenges. She demonstrates her findings to the nurses taking care of the patients using the events as teachable moments with extremely positive response from her peers. She has been a tireless educator and role model for the nursing staff”
— B.K.G., Geriatrician, Service Chief
I was a Graduate student in the Adult/ Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program while working as an RN in the Intensive Care Unit. I owe a tremendous depth of gratitude to my mentor and preceptor Sincere McMillan, whose guidance and support made this accomplishment possible. Sincere exemplifies the best of all the human qualities one can possess. Caring, kindness compassion, and professionalism are at the core of her professional practice and her interaction with others. In her role as a mentor and educator, Sincere is receptive to others and readily shares her vast wealth of knowledge and expertise, whilst making others feel secure, valued, and appreciated. As a preceptor, Sincere provides a wide range of opportunities geared toward growth and development, while fostering independent, competent, and best practice qualities. Her unique ability to inspire and mentor others is evident in her many years of preceptorship and the vast amount of Nurse Practitioner students who have benefited from her remarkable clinical knowledge and expertise.”
— C. M., MSN, AGNP-BC
Ms. McMillan also showed her extraordinary desire to disseminate her knowledge of older adults with cancer to other nurse practitioner and especially nurse practitioner students…she initiated a program for adult/geriatric nurse practitioner students from different schools to have a semester-long rotation at our institution. Nobody expected Ms. McMillan to initiate, run and maintain such program. But she did it out of her extreme passion for teaching and mentorship.”
